Liposuction is a method of eliminating adipose tissue by aspirating fat from the areas with its excess. Liposuction can be carried out in any area, however, it is most often performed on the stomach, sides, thighs and chin. This is the most effective treatment for eliminating fat and shaping the figure.
The procedure begins with anesthesia: a cannula is inserted under the skin to provide rehydration fluid and anesthetic. The next stage is the moment of breaking down and releasing fat. This is done manually with a cannula or through a support device which helps release the fat tissue and changes it into a fragmented form. In the third stage, the broken fat is aspirated. The procedure is considered to be quite invasive. It is performed under local anesthesia. After the treatment, the patient is subject to convalescence: compression underwear and antibiotics are required.
It should be remembered that liposuction is not a slimming, but body shaping method and the final effect of the procedure is also very much affected by a healthy diet and exercise.
The extracted fat can be used to model other parts of the body in a procedure called lipotransfer.
