Carboxytherapy is one of the oldest cosmetology procedures applicable in various indications. It can be applied to improve the appearance of virtually the entire body: reduce cellulite, support the therapy of stretch marks or scars removal, improve blood supply to the skin and thus its condition, or support wounds which are difficult to heal.
Carboxytherapy involves the injection of carbon dioxide (the same as in the air, the same we breathe out) directly under the skin. The procedure uses certified carbon dioxide, commonly used in laparoscopic surgery. Immediately after injection, the gas spreads evenly in the tissue, causes blood vessels to expand, and increases blood flow. This is because the high concentration of carbon dioxide activates a number of local physiological mechanisms seeking to eliminate it quickly. Regular, frequent administration of carbon dioxide increases the production of VEGF growth factor, thanks to which a new network of blood vessels forms under the skin, permanently improving the blood supply to this area, and thus its nutrition and oxygenation.
During the procedure, the patient feels a little pain and a “spreading sensation” under the skin. Carboxytherapy treatment can not only be felt, but also seen -thin lines and small protrusions mark the places where the gas moves underthe skin.
